XID has developed tailor made solutions on SHARP's smart card that will equip Systems Integrators with face verification solutions for biometric passports.
By embedding XID’s face matching algorithm into SHARP’s 1Mb, processor equipped smart card, the card is able to act as an “off-line” CPU, enabling verifications, such as those taking place at immigration and border controls to be carried out without the need for networks, servers or land line connections.
Additionally, XID have ported its face recognition technology to SHARP’s Zaurus PDA. A ruggedized version of the PDA may be used as a Criminal ID solution by police forces for example, accessing police databases wirelessly. Furthermore, the PDA may be used for the verification of users as they access internet content, accounts etc.

Impressed by XID’s technologies and ability to speedily port them to Linux and embedded Linux, Sun invited XID to participate in its “Open Systems for Open Governments” road show in July 2003, that targeted the government and law enforcement markets in Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and India. There, XID demonstrated its technology on Sun’s open platforms (Linux, Java, Unix).
